My Story

I'm Simara. My identity is composed of many intersections. I'm African American and Puertorican. I have been married for 11 years. I'm a mom of two, a Christian, child of a recovering addict, native New Yorker, former Minister, LGBTQIA+ ally and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am certified in Perinatal Mental Health and have completed Level 1 training in Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). Navigating the complexities of my own life birthed a calling to support others trying to find their way as well.

I support individuals, couples, families and friends dealing with the following issues:

  • Perinatal Mental Health

  • Miscarriage

  • Infertility

  • Birth Trauma

  • Postpartum Depression

  • Postpartum Anxiety

  • Family Planning

  • Healing after an affair

  • Premarital counseling

  • Couples Counseling

  • Marital Crisis

  • Relational Conflict

  • Depression

  • Anxiety

  • Racial trauma for BIPOC

  • Burnout

I highly value the experience of being there for others and hold therapy as a sacred partnership between therapist and client. It is with deep empathy, compassion, and sincerity that I approach treatment for my clients. I feel honored to be able to walk alongside you through the most ugly, scary, and difficult of times. It takes immense courage and strength to acknowledge the need for help and even more to do something about it.

Thank you for taking the time to read about me. I hope our paths are able to cross and that we may walk on your journey to health and healing together.
